The Buda Lions Club and the Hays High Leo Club have won state recognition as a community partnership for their combined efforts in providing service to our local community. This award program was sponsored by the Texas Association of Partners in Education (www.partnersineducation.org). School districts from all over the state of Texas submitted a 7-page applications for review by a board comprised of business and community leaders, as well as educators. The award was based on the number of hours of community service provided to the community by both the Lions and the Leos. In addition, the student group (Hays High Leos) has to perform various service learning projects that focused on leadership in the community and amongst their peers at the high school. Interaction between the community group (the Lions) and the youth group (Leos) had to demonstrate that supportive adults add a crucial factor of success to the development of youth as leaders and generous human beings.
