There are three contest for high school age students. They are Diabetes Awareness Essay contest, the Drug Awareness Speech contest, and the Outstanding youth contest. Entrants must be junior or seniors in high school. Each contest carries a reward of a $500.00 scholarship for 1st place, and $250.00 for 2nd place. Winners at the MD-2 level receive $3000.00 and $1000.00 respectively. Students enter the District contest with the commitment to compete in the MD-2 contest in May in Houston. There is no entry fee for the District context, but clubs should be prepared to pay transportation to McQueeney for their contestant. There is a $200.00 fee for the District winner to compete at the MD-2 contest in HOuston. The sponsoring club assumes responsibility for this fee and the transportation costs for the winning contestant. The $200.00 entry fee includes lodging for the contestant and chaperone. Entry forms and information are available on the District web site and through the District Newsletter. Information and forms for the MD-2 contests are on the MD-2 web site Use the MD-2 application form for District entries, do NOT send $200.00. This is an important Lions activity that is not only an opportunity for the youth of our communities, but also, an enhancement of our Lions mission of service.
