PURPOSE Texas Lions Foundation (TLF) is an organization committed to filling humanitarian needs throughout the world. As a public, non-profit, tax-exempt corporation, its purpose is to promote human welfare by careful application of contributed funds. TLF concentrates its efforts in two areas: humanitarian services and disaster relief. The Foundation strives to support projects that, while falling into one of these two categories, also have long-term and far reaching effects, and promote the objectives of the Texas Lions Foundation. Overall, the Foundation maintains a strong commitment to helping people achieve their own potential, and to implementing projects that make permanent and positive changes. Projects are favored that provide benefits to as many people as possible. HUMANITARIAN SERVICES - Humanitarian Service grants can be issued in support of a broad range of projects designed to fill diverse needs. In general, projects designed to create or expand community programs or institutes are preferred. DISASTER RELIEF - Disaster Relief grants are made in response to natural disasters that cause significant mortality, injury, and property damage and loss. Priority is given to projects aimed at creating or reconstructing public facilities and services. For more information CLICK here. |

Following my remarks at Texas Foundation breakfast during Texas State Lions Convention, several Lions asked if it could be arranged for my column to appear in their local newspapers. I explained that I write weekly, providing column to meet deadlines of about 160 newspapers, as I have done for more than eight years. The number of newspapers carrying my column has grown from six in the early days to some 160 now. It also is heard on a few radio stations. (By way of explaining the radio station reference: My column appears on home page of my web site in both written and oral form (www.speakerdoc.com). In the oral rendition, I am the reader, as I am for my audio books. Each weekly column on radio runs 5-6 minutes. Radio stations access oral version from web site.) If Lions, and/or newspaper editors or radio station reps, would like to contact me, I’d be pleased for them to do so. My office number is 817-447-3872; cell, 817-692-5625, or email, newbury@speakerdoc.com. This weekly commitment to writing is a labor of love. There is no charge whatever—never has been, never will be. Sincerely, Don Newbury |
