LCI Contests

All Contests
1. All contests are judged by members of the Public Relations Committee of the International Board of Directors at the Lions International Convention.

2. All contest winners are announced at the Lions International Convention and published in THE LION Magazine.

3. Entries become property of Lions Clubs International Headquarters and cannot be returned. Lions Clubs International may use entries in any way deemed suitable.

4. The Public Relations and Communications Division at International Headquarters mails awards to all winners by September 1 following the Lions International Convention.

5. The decisions of the judges are final.

Newsletter (Bulletin) Contest

Awards: First place = plaque
Four honorable mentions = certificate

1. The contest is open to all Lions clubs and districts. (Not multiple districts.) The above listed awards will be presented in each category.

2. Lions clubs must submit two copies of the same issue of its best club bulletin.

3. Districts must submit two copies of the same issue of its single best bulletin. Districts producing newsletters for more than one purpose or project must select only one for submission. (Only the first eligible district bulletin contest entry received by the Public Relations and Communications Division at International Headquarters will be considered by the judges.)

4. Newsletters must be mailed to the Public Relations and Communications Division at International Headquarters to arrive by May 1 of the year in which they’ll be judged at the Lions International Convention. Official entry form must accompany entry.

5. Newsletters will be judged for the quality of content, page layout, publication design and production.

Public Relations Idea Contest

Awards: First place = plaque
11 honorable mentions = certificate

1. The contest is open to all Lions, Leos, Lions clubs, Leo clubs, districts and multiple districts. Winning ideas will be featured regularly in THE LION Magazine and on the official Web site at www.lionsclubs.org.

2. Ideas must represent viable public relations activities that successfully received attention among community members and in the media.

3. Idea submissions will only be accepted between March 1 and May 1 of the year in which they will be judged. Official entry form must accompany entry.

4. Ideas will be judged on quality, ease of implementation and actual success.

Web Site Contest

Awards: First place = plaque
Two honorable mentions = certificate

1. The contest is open to all Lions clubs, districts and multiple districts. The above listed awards will be presented in each category.

2. All clubs, districts and multiple districts must submit a hard copy of their Web site and include the URL on the Official Contest Registration Form.

3. Entries must be mailed to the Public Relations and Communications Division at International Headquarters to arrive by May 1 of the year in which they’ll be judged at the Lions International Convention. Official entry form must accompany entry.

4. Web sites will be judged for quality of content and design.

District 2-S3 Awards

Harry Reasonover Award:
The highest award given solely to members of District 2-S3. The selection is based on the outstanding service over a number of years in the District. Nominations are made by the members club by vote. The Plaque is donated and presented by the West Austin Lions Club.

Gold Spur Award:
Awarded by the District for outstanding service to Lionism by a member during the year it is presented.

Silver Spur Award:
Awarded by the district to a new Lion for outstanding service to Lionism during their first year as a Lion and during the year it is presented.

Written nomination reports, for the Harry Reasonover, Gold and Silver spur Awards, depicting the members years of service both in the Lions and community are sent to the District Governor to arrive no later than 30 days prior to the District convention. The document must be dated and signed by the Club President and Club Secretary. The governor shall appoint a secret committee to select winners based on nominations from the clubs. Awards are presented at the District Convention. Previous winners are not eligible for the individual award.

C.W. A. Mac Cormack Award:
Awarded by the Austin founder Lions club to the most active club based on the MMRs and Monthly Activity Reports.

Texas Lions Hall Of Fame:
The purpose is to bestow honor to outstanding Lions who have given usefully of their time, talents and means to further the cause of humanitarian services. each district has the privilege of nominating one member for the Hall Of Fame once every three years. Nominations by the clubs by the vote are sent to the District Governor in a sealed envelope with only the words : "Texas Lions Hall Of Fame" and enclosed in an envelope addressed to the District Governor. The nomination is in the form of a Resolution with an attachment depicting the years of service, activities, position held, awards receiver and current position. Also include community involvement. Nominees are prohibited from campaigning for the award. The sealed resolutions must be received 30 days prior to the Mid-Winter Conference by the District Governor and presented to the Selection committee, consisting of Texas Lions Hall of Fame members of the District, for their selection. The districts nominee is presented at the Mid-Winter Conference and receives the plaque and medallion at the State Convention. The name, photo, and write-up with required funds must be in the State office by the February Council meeting.

Membership in a Lions club may be attained by invitation only and the standards are reasonably high and limited to persons of good moral character and reputation.
